Indonesian People Facing Identity Crisis

Are We, Indonesian People Facing Identity Crisis?

Indonesia has everything and is everything. But despite its size that is number fifteen in terms of area size and the fourth largest country in terms of population, and all its amazing characteristics, Indonesia is still an unknown giant. Indonesia is too chaos to be known globally. For example, in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta, the election candidates are busy making coalition deals and secret pacts to win votes, unencumbered by any serious debate. The business community is drunk on a stock market boom that is far up the risk curve. The public has been swept away in the colorful campaign festivities that are welcome distraction from the hardships of a still contracting economy. Outside Java the densest area, Riau, for example, produces more than 70% of the nation’s oil and gas. In 1997 this was worth about $6.5 billion, and yet the government’s expenditure on the province that year was just $120 million. Papua, the richest island on Indonesia, is ironically the poorest province in Indonesia, all thanks to the preceding government who failed to spot Indonesia’s fortune.  Indonesia is fraught with complexities, contradictions and ironies.

The biggest question is, “What does it mean to be Indonesian?” And the majority answers, “We are still in search of who we are. On the one hand it wants to become democratic, to have clean government, but at the same time it doesn’t want to break with the status quo. To be Indonesian is to be confused about what you really want. It’s a very saddening situation.” There’s even a further saying, with no intention to insult anyone, “Indonesia is literally a heaven, carried out by monkeys”. It’s such a pity not to carry out the potentiality of our country by ourselves.

From the very first time, when Indonesia stated that it took no side on Eastern Bloc and Western Bloc, some Indonesians thought that Indonesia tended to be one-sided on Western Bloc. Indonesia is good on the outside but broken inside. Why? We may put blame on how hard it takes to change mindset of human, especially Indonesians. Indonesian people are short-minded yet they don’t think or simply don’t give any consent about what may happen in the future. They seize what they need at the very moment by legalizing whatever they want to do, such as corruption, collusion, and nepotism. Rich and overpowered people might think they’re the one who has the biggest deal that no one could ever disrupt. Yet, unity is a mere slogan.

SMAK3WEEK 2016 ‘SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS’

Haii readers! Besok jam 09.30 ada opening SMAK3WEEK 2016 di SMAK3 PENABUR JAKARTA ! Jangan sampai ketinggalan momennya yaa 😉

KTP

Hai guys!

Kebetulan hari ini KTP gue jadi. So, gue mau cerita dikit mengenai  sistem pembuatan KTP deh. Jadi, kisah bermula dari 22 Agustus 2016 (waw angka cantik!). Gue dateng ke kelurahan jam 4 sore.  Nah, gue bilang kalo gue mau bikin ktp. Eh, diomelin petugasnya, katanya disuruh balik lagi besoknya soalnya udah jem 4, penerimaan berkas baru aja ditutup. Cuma sebentar (ditanyain biodata, ambil foto, tanda tangan, scan sidik jari, scan mata) udah selesai. Gue sih baca tulisan ‘Pembuatan KTP selesai 1 bulan karena mesin rusak’. Ya nggak persis kayak gitu sih tulisannya tapi kira-kira intinya begitu lah ya. Eh..tiba-tiba hari ini bokap gue ngasih KTP gue, udah kelar. Wow, nggak sampe 3 minggu guys.

Sementara itu, temen gue yang ulang tahunnya April, bikin KTP dari Juni, belom jadi tuh KTP dia sampe sekarang. Katanya, kartu habis. Ini yang mau gue kritik guys. Gue bikin 15 menit kelar, dia sampe dua hari karena hari pertama dia ke kelurahan, dibilang mesin rusak. Udah gitu, kartunya dua bulan loh nggak direstock. Kinerja pegawai pemerintah masih belum distandardisasi guys. Masih banyak ketidakdisiplinan administrasi yang membuat hal-hal sepele berubah menjadi benang kusut. Yah, gue harap sih ke depannya ada keteraturan yang lebih. Sekian curcol KTP 🙂

300 Years of An Errie Mystery About The “Eclipse Strange Wind”

Thousands of regular people just helped crack an eerie mystery about a solar eclipse that’s boggled scientists for 300 years

If you happened to be in London on May 3, 1715, a few minutes of your day would have been shrouded in darkness as the moon passed between Earth and the sun.
And as if a dark sky lit only by the faint white ring of the sun’s corona wasn’t eerie enough, the eclipse was accompanied by a strange wind — or, as astronomer Edmund Halley put it — a “chill and damp” that caused “some sense of horror among the spectators.”

For the past three centuries, scientists have been unable to find an explanation for what caused the wind to dramatically change that day.

4,500 regular people help crack the case

Reuters//Beawiharta
Three hundred years later, it happened again.
During a partial solar eclipse across the UK, observers felt this same chill and damp as the moon obscured a chunk of the sun.
But this time around, as part of the National Eclipse Weather Experiment, 4,500 citizen scientists and a group of meteorologists at the University of Reading were at the ready to take observations that might help solve the mystery of this eclipse wind.
Based on these observations, the scientists realized that it wasn’t just one or two people who’d felt the change — many observants had experienced the air cooling and the wind getting weaker. To further investigate this, the scientists combined their observations with data from surface weather stations and a network of roadside weather sensors.
And they solved the mystery.
Turns out it had been caused by variations occurring in the layer of air separating ground level winds from higher winds, known as the boundary level.
“As the sun disappears behind the moon the ground suddenly cools, just like at sunset, atmospheric physicist Giles Harrison said in a press release. “This means warm air stops rising from the ground, causing a drop in wind speed and a shift in its direction, as the slowing of the air by the Earth’s surface changes.”
Two separate reports on the phenomenon are published in the journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A. The results are supported by another study by researchers at the University of Sheffield, which found that during the 2015, the temperature dropped for about 40 minutes, and the wind slowed by about 9%. Still, further studies need to be done to verify the results.
And with a total eclipse coming to the US in 2017, it seems like scientists will have the perfect chance to test the findings.
“There have been lots of theories about the eclipse wind over the years, but we think this is the most compelling explanation yet,” Harrison said.

Galaksi dan Ekstragalaksi

Hai guys, udah lama nih gak update :D.
